What is Priligy?

What is Priligy used for?

Priligy is a medication that is used to treat men, aged between 18 and 64, who suffer with premature ejaculation. Premature ejaculation is a common problem. It  means that a man ejaculates with little sexual stimulation or before he wants to. This can be en extremely distressing for those suffering with the complaint and may also impact on sexual relationships as well. Priligy increases the time it takes a man to ejaculate and can improve his control over ejaculation. The medication may also increase overall satisfaction with sexual intercourse.

Before you take Priligy

You should not take Priligy of you are allergic to dapoxetine or any of the other ingredients in the medication.

You should not take Priligy if you suffer with cardiac problems, such as heart failure or irregular heart beat.

You should not take Priligy if you are taking:

  • Medicines for depression and bipolar disorder
  • Linezolid
  • Tryptophan
  • St John’s Wort
  • Tramadol
  • Medicines used to treat migraines.
  • Certain medicines for fungal infection, including ketoconazole and itraconazole Certain medicines for HIV, including, saquinavir, ritonavir, atazanavir and nelfinavir.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Priligy if:

  • You drink alcohol
  • If a doctor has not diagnosed you with premature ejaculation
  • You use recreational drugs such as LSD, ecstasy, benzodiazepines or narcotics
  • You have or ever have had a problem with your mental health such as mania, depression, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.
  • You have ever had bleeding or blood clotting problems
  • You have problems with your kidneys
  • You have epilepsy
  • You have a history of dizziness from low blood pressure.

Your doctor should check your blood pressure before you start taking Priligy.

How to take Priligy

You can take Priligy with or without food, though you should take it with at least one full glass of water.

You should avoid alcohol when taking Priligy.

Women should not take Priligy.

Possible side effects of Priligy

Priligy, like all medications may cause side effects. These may include seizures, feeling faint and changes in your mood. If you begin to suffer with any of these side effects stop taking the medication immediately and contact your doctor.
